At Chariot Outdoor, this belief shapes everything we build. We’ve always felt that the best outdoor moments aren’t about the equipment you bring—they’re about being side by side with the people who matter. When you sit together, talk, laugh, and settle in, the day feels different. Our mission is to create products that make that feeling easier to enjoy, wherever life takes you.
Where Our Story Begins
Before Chariot Outdoor existed, our team was working on a wheelchair power add‑on that began as a university project. What started as a small idea quickly grew into a deeper exploration of mobility, independence, and real‑world design. To truly understand the challenges wheelchair users face, we immersed ourselves in their equipment—folding it, lifting it, transporting it, and spending long hours sitting in it.
That hands‑on experience taught us something foundational: great design starts with how a person feels in the seat. Stability, support, comfort, and ease of use aren’t just technical details—they shape someone’s entire day.
Those lessons stayed with us.
Building Something Families Actually Needed
Years later, as parents hauling gear to games, parks, and events, we ran into a problem we felt in our bones. Soccer Saturdays always started the same way: juggling chairs, coolers, and bags on a long walk to the field. By the time we finally got everything set up, we were already tired—and then we'd end up sitting in the full sun on seats that just weren’t built for real comfort. We loved being there for our kids, but the setup and the lack of a good place to actually sit made the experience harder than it should’ve been.
We knew we could solve that. Outdoor gear deserved the same level of thoughtful engineering we had learned through our mobility work. So instead of starting with a wagon and trying to force seating into it, we flipped the process entirely.
We started with the seats—modeled after foldable wheelchair seating we trusted because we’d spent long days in it ourselves. Comfortable, supportive, portable. Seats that actually feel good. Seats at an adult‑friendly height. Seats that support your back instead of fighting it. Seats that let you settle in and stay awhile.
Once we got the seating right, we faced the real challenge: building everything else around that level of comfort without making the system bulky, heavy, or difficult to fold.
Innovation You Can Feel
Solving that problem required true innovation. Traditional metal‑heavy frames couldn’t deliver the comfort we wanted or fold small enough for everyday use. So we engineered a new structure inspired by what we learned in mobility design: a tensioned‑strap support system with low‑slung X‑bracing.
This approach distributes weight evenly, stabilizes the frame, supports real adult seating, and still allows the entire Lawn Chariot to fold compactly enough to fit in real cars—not just large vehicles.
The result wasn’t a wagon with seats. It was something new: a mobile relaxation suite built from the seat up.

Today, we’re still a small team of friends and family who prototype ideas, test them with our own kids, and obsess over the details that make outdoor time easier and more enjoyable. We build with intention, we improve constantly, and we stay grounded in that simple truth:
